I came across a rather odd problem on my father's PC, paticularly after a recent Windows update. The ethernet internet connection kept disconnecting at random intervals, and after a few seconds it would reconnect. This was particularly frustrating if you are in the middle of browsing the internet.

Luckily I came across a fix that seemed to work:

Instructions: How to fix an Ethernet internet connection that keeps disconnecting and reconnecting intermittently on PC

  1. Navigate to Device Manager
Go to Device Manager by clicking on the Windows symbol at the bottom left of your screen and type into the search box Device Manager.
  2. When you are within Device Manager click on Network Adapters.
  3. Right click on your Network Adapter - it usually starts with Realtek (mine is Realtek PCle FE Family controller)
  4. Right click on Properties, and choose Advanced.
  5. Under the Property heading click on Speed & Duplex
  6. Under Value you will probably see it set to Auto Negotiation, change it to 100 Mbps Half Duplex
  7. Click OK, and close Device Manager

Then hopefully your issue should now be fixed!
